Viking warriors were fierce fighters from Scandinavia who lived over 1000 years ago. They were strong, brave, and very good fighters. During battles, Viking warriors used long, slender swords, spears, and axes adorned with intricate designs. They wore helmets with (or without) horns and chainmail armour, and carried round shields.
Viking warriors were feared because they attacked without warning! Their ships gave them the ability to travel long distances by sea.
Many Vikings settled and, despite their fearsome reputation as warriors, Viking communities were also known for their craftsmanship, love of stories, and respect for the gods they believed in.
