We had great fun making these spider biscuits and, as they are really just a question of adding decorations to existing biscuits, it's a quick activity to put together. They would make a perfect Halloween activity and tea-time treat, but of course are fun for any time of year (or a minibeast project!)
You will need:
- A round biscuit (we used Tea biscuits and Oreo’s)
- Small round chocolate circles (such as M&M’s and Smarties)
- Icing (we used vanilla icing)
- Some candy laces or licorice for the legs
- Scissors to cut the laces
Instructions for the tea biscuit spiders
- Add a layer of icing to the top of your biscuit. You will attach everything to the icing.
- Add two of the chocolate sweets for the spider’s eyes
- Cut the laces or licorice into eight smaller sections for the spider's legs. Attach the legs to the side of the biscuit.
- If you like you could also use a small section of lace to create a mouth.
Instructions for the oreo biscuit spiders
- Open the oreo biscuit up so you have the icing on one side.
- Cut the laces or licorice into eight sections for the spider's legs.
- Attach the legs on the inside of the oreo biscuit. If they are not sticking well you can always add a dab of your own icing.
- Reattach the other half of the biscuit.
- Using a dab of icing, attach two of the chocolate sweeets to the top of the biscuit so that your spider has eyes.
- If you want you could also use a small section of lacesto create a mouth. Attach it to the biscuit with a small dab of icing.
Yum!
