The National flag of Australia is dark blue with a Union Jack in the top left corner. Below the Union Jack is a white, seven point star, commonly known as the ‘Commonwealth Star’ (Federation Star). On the right hand side of the flag there is a representation of the Southern Cross Constellation, made up of 5 more white stars. The flag was first raised in Melbourne on September 3rd 1901.
