Feed the Pandas!

Panda game - Feed the Pandas

This is a printable board game, designed to enable children to learn all about pandas while having lots of fun and racing to feed their own panda enough bamboo!

Print out the various components and then assemble as follows:

Assembly

Game board
The game board comes in two pieces, and can either be joined together with sticky tape, or pasted inside a file folder with inside edges joining.

Panda-facts
There are three sets of panda-fact cards, as well as a page of blank cards for you to add your own (or make the game harder, as suggested later). Cut them out and put them in a pile face-down.

Bamboo
There are 40 little bamboo pieces. You can either cut these out and put in a mound near the board, or substitute something that you have on hand (like green counters).

Panda cards
You will need one panda card for each player. Keep it face-up in front of you.

Playing pieces and dice
You will also need a counter or playing piece for each player, preferably matching their panda card, and a dice.

How to play

Each player puts their playing piece on any "bamboo" space. Youngest starts and rolls the dice, then moves the appropriate number of spaces clockwise.

If you land on a panda-fact space, take a card from the pile and read it out.

If you land on a bamboo space, take a piece of bamboo and store it on your panda card in front of you.

The winner is the first to collect 10 pieces of bamboo (you can of course alter the number to suit your age of children).

Extension for older children

Once your children are familiar with the panda-fact cards, you might want to turn the game into a quiz. Instead of reading the cards out, read the fact silently and then turn it into a question or a true or false statement. We have also provided a page of blank cards so that you can write your own questions out and use them instead.

You could also combine the too, reading out panda-facts for younger children, and testing older children on their knowledge.
