Subscribing To A Feed

Why subscribe to our feed?

We will be updating our feed whenever we add new pages to Activity Village, or find a particularly good website or video which we want to tell you about. You can read the website version of our feed by clicking on the What's New link on the menu bar at the top of each page. Alternatively, if you have a Google, Yahoo or MSN home page, or a feed reader service, you will be presented with a dynamic list of our updates and be able click on the link provided to go directly to the new activity. This is how the feed appears on my Google home page:

Subscribing with Internet Explorer 7:

If you have Internet Explorer 7 it is very simple to subscribe to our feed. Go to any page in Activity Village and look for the small orange feed icon on the right of your Internet Explorer toolbar.

Click on it. The page will change to show a basic version of the Activity Village Updates page and at the top left of the page you will see the following:

Feed instructions 1

Click on the link which reads "Subscribe to this feed" and the feed will be saved into your Feeds list, which runs alongside your Favorites and your History. You can sort your feeds into folders if you wish.

When you want to check your feeds, click on the Star icon to the left of your toolbar, and then select the Feeds button.

If we have updated the Activity Village Updates page, its listing will be in bold until you click on it to read it.

Subscribing in other browsers:

I'm not an expert on other browsers or Macs, but you can also subscribe to the feed by clicking on the RSS icon on the menu bar of any page within Activity Village.

In addition, many feed readers allow you to subscribe to a feed by dragging the feed icon over to the reader and dropping it in the appropriate place. Remember, you can also copy the feed's URL, which is http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/Updates.xml, into your browser window or into your preferred feed reader.
