This is a theme party that kids will love and the costumes and
invitations are really easy to create. It’s also easy with a few touches
to transform your home into a dangerous pirate ship where unwelcome
guests will be forced to walk the plank!
Party Invitations
If you scour the internet, you may be able to find some ideas for
printable invites. Just use some clipart with the skull and crossbones
or a pirate captain and create your own invitations on the computer.
Make sure you include the time (start and finish), date and address for
your guests.
Pirate Costumes
These are fairly straight forward from even the most limited wardrobe. A
simple striped top, drawstring trousers and a homemade eye patch will
suffice. For the more adventurous, a bandana or pirate hat, neck scarf
and pretend weapons. To finish, a loose and heavy belt tied loosely
around the waist. Children just love dressing up as mean pirates!
The Party Venue
A skull and crossbones flag hoisted outside your home can be created
fairly simply – either on the computer or a sewing machine.
For party prizes, creating the Captains Treasure Chest will be straight
forward using a box or toy box wrapped in gold or silver paper.
Some Pirate Games
A treasure hunt with a pirate map is a great idea, if space permits.
Other traditional party games could be played, but with the “loser”
having to “walk the plank” or some other wet surprise (such as apple
bobbing).
Adapting usual games to have “treasure” or “long john silver” on the
prowl will be sure to be winners.
