Mummy Hand Desk Tidy

This gruesome Mummy Hand is a perfect accessory for
your desk or tabletop this Halloween - and it is fun to make too!
You will need:
A small cardboard tube or tin
Thick card (we used the side of a cardboard box)
Newspaper
Sticky tape
White glue (PVA)
White paper
Draw around your hand (or if your hand is very small borrow an adult's) on
the cardboard and cut out. Put the cardboard tube where the wrist would go
and tape into position.
Take a piece of newspaper and fold it until it makes a
bundle big enough to cover the back of the hand. Fold five smaller, thinner
bundles for the fingers and tape all of them into place.

Turn the hand over so it rests on the cardboard tube (you
will probably need to weight it down or ask someone to hold it for you). Rip
the white paper into strips, dip them in glue and wrap them around the
fingers and thumb. When these are totally covered turn the hand over and sit
it on some food wrap to stop it sticking. Rip more strips from the white
paper. Continue to cover the rest of the hand, dipping the strips of paper
in glue and laying them over the hand tucking the edges underneath. Cover
the pot in exactly the same way. Leave it to dry.

Your Mummy Hand Desk Tidy is the perfect place to store those
monster topped pencils!
