At Chinese New Year it is traditional for parents and elders to give gifts of
"lucky money" to children and unmarried adults. The money, which can vary
from a small, new coin to a substantial sum, is always presented in a red
envelope. It's easy to make a red envelope - why not have a go with the
children?
Print out our template onto red paper and cut out.
Fold along the marked lines and glue the small flaps down, leaving the top open.
Use gold paint or a pen to draw a Chinese character on the front of the
envelope. You can find some inspiration from our
Chinese calligraphy cards if you like.
Mini-booklets to print and fold - some with the Chinese zodiac characteristics
included (like our Chinese Zodiac Posters, below), and some lined and blank for
your own writing and drawing projects. Chinese Zodiac booklets
