This is a simple and inexpensive gift idea which children can
make themselves and give to their favorite adults - perfect for
Mother's Day,
Father's Day, Grandparents' Day or even
as a gift for Teacher.
Simply trace your child's hand onto paper a number of times
and cut out. You can use the same color or a variety of colors.
(Semi-transparent vellum in assorted colors looks very special, but is
expensive).
On each handprint the child writes a promise - "This coupon is
good for one hug", "Exchange this coupon for a car wash", "I will help you lay
the table for this coupon", "Breakfast in bed" and so on.
Package the handprints nicely. Here are some ideas:
Layer them inside a nice box which the child decorate and
tie up with a ribbon
Punch a hole in each handprint and attach together with a
key-ring fitting
Arrange in a flower shape and stick lightly to a large
piece of colored card to hang in the kitchen (perhaps with a
handprint poem)
Make two extra hands out of card, decorate, and sandwich
them all together into a book, then staple.
If appropriate you could include one handprint with a
handprint poem on it, for a keepsake.
