Coordination between hand and eye is one of the basic skills that young
children need to master, and developing fine motor skills can be a lot of fun!
We have a collection of ideas, printables and worksheets below which you can use
with your toddlers, either at home or in the classroom.
Cutting
Provide your child with a pair of safe scissors and start cutting! Start with
simple straight lines and progress up through curves and zigzags, fringes and
shapes. When you have mastered the basics, provide old magazines, gift wrap and newspapers for more cutting fun.
You will find examples of crafts using cutting and sticking all over the site,
but here are a few dedicated worksheets which start with simple straight lines
and graduate up in difficulty to quite complex shapes for older children.
All children love cutting and sticking! We've got some fun ideas for things to

Lacing
Lacing cards are a great way to keep little ones busy for a few moments, help
children to concentrate, and develop hand-eye coordination. We've got some
beautiful lacing cards for you to print, laminate, hole punch and lace -
something to appeal to every taste!
Provide as many different drawing instruments as you can, and lots of bit
sheets of paper. Even the youngest children can have fun making squiggles while
they are sitting in the high chair, and the act of holding the writing implement
and manoeuvring it are invaluable practice!
Play math games and get better at math! We've teamed up with Whizz.com
to bring you fun math games which you can play online with Activity
Village. US and UK versions, too! Math GamesNEW!
