Chinese Firecracker Craft

It used to be traditional to set off very loud firecrackers at the beginning
of Chinese New Year, to warn away the man-eating monster Nian and to welcome in
the New Year. Your kids can make their own - less noisy - Chinese firecrackers
with this Chinese New Year craft idea.

You will need:
toilet roll tube
Red and gold paint
Instructions:
Simply paint your tube red and leave to dry. Decorate with gold paint. You
could paint pink blossoms on your fire crackers, too, like the ones above, or
perhaps paint some of the Chinese zodiac animals.
You could display your Chinese firecracker on the mantelpiece and use it to
store some Chinese New Year goodies!
