Baby Sleep
If there is one parenting issue which causes the most anxiety, disruption and
unhappiness, it is baby sleep problems! Somehow life can seem very tough when
you have only had a few hours of broken sleep, and although it is an established
fact that new parents have a tough time of it, there is much you can do to make
things easier for you and your baby.
Having lived through 2 years of "sleep hell" with my first child, I know what
impact sleep disruption can have on baby and parents - and I also know that not
every "expert's" technique will work for every family, however fashionable it
is. We tried many different plans before we found something that made sense to
us and worked for us, and you may need to do the same. But please persevere -
the peace and calm that will come to your family when everyone has a good
night's sleep is worth investing some time and effort in research and reading!
And please remember that your doctor may be able to help too, and that there are
now baby sleep clinics and baby sleep specialists in many areas who may be able
to offer you practical advice and support.
All parents worry about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Although the exact causes
of SIDS are still unknown, certain risk factors have been identified, and many
of these are to do with the way a baby sleeps. Follow the advice below to reduce
the risks for your baby and put him to bed with confidence... Safe Sleeping For Your BabyNEW!
Learning how to send herself off to sleep is the most important skill you can
teach your baby. The best way to teach this skill is to give your baby plenty of
opportunities to go to sleep alone. This may seem hard at first – and there is
not a parent alive who hasn’t struggled with this at one time or another – but
in the long term you are doing your baby no favors by denying her the chance to
learn this basic skill... Avoiding Sleep Associations
